Hey there! Chad and I have been busy lately with an all-hands-on-deck fitness challenge, which we’re referring to as 75 Medium.
Here’s a refresher on the rules:
- We’re both following calorie-counting diets. I’m trying to focus more on hitting macros than anything else.
- We’re allowing light drinking and “cheat meals” around the holidays and special events.
- Two 45-minute workouts each day. They can both be indoors, because it’s cold here in Colorado.
- Drink a gallon of water every day.
- Read at least 10 pages of any book. Chad and I are both reading fiction currently.
- The progress photos are optional.

Here’s another week documenting our challenge progress.
Day 8
Vibes
This is maybe the hardest day so far to find the motivation to squeeze those two workouts in, for both Chad and I. We prefer to split up the sessions, but today we both couldn’t manage—instead, we’re left struggling through one 90-minute monster.
However, this morning I noticed that I have lost 3.8 pounds since last Monday. Though it’s not all about that, it certainly helps. Let’s fucking go.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- 21 Day Fix Real Time – Cardio Core
Dinner
We had some ground turkey, onion, rice, and roasted carrots ala Chad.
Day 9
Vibes
Today was tough but I triumphed! I managed to keep on track with an all-day meeting in Grand Junction; meaning, I worked out early before I left and then late when I got home, and hate very healthy in-between. As you may or may not recall, I am the biggest non-morning person and early-riser wimp, perhaps of al time. This was the hardest day yet, but I did THAT.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- 21 Day Fix Real Time – Legs
Dinner
Chad prepared a very nice lemon and garlic chicken dish with sweet potatoes and asparagus.
Day 10
Vibes
Okay, best day ever! Mostly because I got to sub out one of my workouts for a hip-hop dance class! It was such a fun experience and I felt right at home, learning choreography to “This Is How We Do It.” My little dancer heart felt awakened and happy and I had 90 active minutes on my Fitbit; safe to say, it was an amazing workout.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Hip Hop Class!!
Dinner
Love a good stir fry! And that’s what Chad does—makes delicious stir fry using broccoli, salsa chicken, rice, carrots, and onions.
Day 11
Vibes
Thursdays are hard. My second workout ended abruptly with an intense charlie horse pain right in my butt, so I cut it short with some walking instead. That was a bummer, but I think listening to my body is always the right choice.
Note to self: stop combining both workouts into one monster 90-minute session. It sucks.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- 21 Day Fix Real Time – Upper Body
Dinner
We made a “healthy” frozen pizza by Daiya. Delicious and dairy-free, but it’s not all that filling and the calories are high. Kinda regretted it, but the convenience was necessary tonight.
Day 12
Vibes
I’m proud of myself, because today we almost faltered and then came out strong. My workouts have been a little “eh” since getting out of sync with 21DF (since I delayed for hip hop class), and I really felt that today. But the biggie was our Friday fatigue: exhausted from long days and longer weeks and feeling that weekend laziness, Chad and I almost caved and got McDonald’s for dinner.
Realistically, this would’ve been more than fine. Calorie-wise, I had more than enough to cover a #1 with Dr. Pepper. But we knew that we would’ve felt crappy about it, since the holidays are coming up and we’ve decided ahead of time for reasonable diet freedom. Plus, could we really not go less than two weeks without fast food?
Instead, we powered through and had some pasta. After, we ran to the gas station and picked out a treat each (I opted for a cookies and cream candy bar). Because…balance! It was a highlight of the day and a great compromise.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Hodgepodge arms and abs
Dinner
Chad made pasta! Chick pea shells, with a fresh diced tomato, onion, spinach, and pine nut sauce.
Day 13
Vibes
Saturdays are tough! I’m typically in full relaxation and recovery mode (when we’re traveling or have plans), so finding that motivation is killer.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Treadmill
Dinner
We decided to treat ourselves by ordering Mexican food and it was really what we needed. No calorie counts were broken, and it was a million percent worth it to have delicious food prepared by a fantastic local restaurant.
Day 14
Vibes
Today was hard and shitty but somehow all the goals were still met. Finished my book, which was nice.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- 21 Day Fix Real Time – Yoga
Dinner
Honestly, we both just foraged for whatever was available and fit into our calorie budgets. Soup and eggs, etc.
Two weeks down!
At the start of Week 3, I weighed in and was happy with what I saw: I lost another 3 pounds, which brings me to 6 total lost. More so, I feel like my body is changing in non-scale victories—more energy, better sleep, less stiffness.
After 14 days of sticking to our goals and showing up every single day to get ‘er done, I feel a mix of pride and astonishment. We are not really the type of people to stick with something, especially when it takes up 90 minutes of our time. But here we are: sticking.
We still have a long way to go. Some significant challenges await us in Week 3 (Thanksgiving, travel). But here we are, doing the damn thing.
