As hopeful as I was for 2021, I’ll admit that it hasn’t gone according to plan in many ways. There’s been some lows, from a prolonged pandemic, my own bought with COVID, to a few minor mishaps and mistakes, sprinkled along the way.
With that, there’s also been a lot of joy.
I’m appreciative of all the special moments of the past year: my trip to San Diego, going to Florida with my parents, snowboarding the winter away at Sunlight, spending time with my family, working with incredible clients, swimming in my parents’ pool (lol), getting to throw a belated housewarming party, time spent kicking it with our neighbors in their garage, countless cuddles with Wally and Chad, and making it through to see the other side of the virus.
I hope for more in the coming year: for myself, for my family, for my friends, to every single person out there. Here are my goals for 2022, to help me achieve the kind of year I deserve.
Take care of myself.
“Your health is your wealth.” I want to feel great, to look good, to know that I’m treating my mind and body with respect and care. That means continuing these healthy habits that I’ve been working so hard to maintain. (75 Medium won’t last forever, but if I can transition into a more sustainable routine, I’ll be happy.)
In addition to working out, I want to go to the doctor in 2022: get screened for cancer, ask about ADHD, and see a foot specialist to sort out my wonky walking injuries.
Be active rather than passive.
I want to chase new opportunities and seek them out. Life is short and the time is right stinkin’ now.

Go on vacation.
Hopefully, travel will be a realistic option. I want to go to new places, relax, recharge, and enjoy myself on well-earned vacations.
Fingers crossed for somewhere tropical as well as somewhere new domestically.
Work my ass off.
I want to work hard at everything I do. The plan is to give my all to whatever has my attention, whether it has to do with fitness or coaching or gift-giving or pet-owning or running my business. I want to make goals and crush them and see the fruits of my labor in real time.
Business-wise, I am ready to take things to a new level at Sunshine Creatives. This is going to be a year of making new connections, thinking creatively, and pushing the envelope. I’m hoping for another client or two, but we will see where 2022 leads me.
Be the best version of myself.
I think in a similar vein, I want to be the best version of myself by working my ass off, by challenge myself, and by saying yes to the things outside my comfort zone. I don’t have to settle for less than I want or deserve, in any part of life.
Other best-version things: being timely, reading, doing skincare, planning ahead, cooking dinner every once in a while, looking on the bright side, using the stairs, saving money (so we can travel more!), loving things (and people) hard.

Really lean into life and living a good life.
I have a good, good life. I live in a beautiful place, have a wonderful family, and have stability in so many different ways. To be honest, I have so many of the things I always dreamed of. And more.
I want to take advantage of the opportunities around me, and always remember to pause and remember how great things truly are.
Treat myself to things that make me happy.
There are a few things I want to chase to improve my happiness.
- It’d be fantastic to get another tattoo
- A quick trip to Denver to see my best friends? I’m down.
- It’s about time I pulled the trigger on those lip injections I’ve been looking into obsessively
- Sometimes I deserve bougie nails
- I’m going to push for those weekend trips away
- New experiences: hip-hop or a spin class or a business after hours

What are your goals moving into the new year?
