Well, we’re somehow still here, still moving forward with our 75 Day Medium fitness and health challenge! This “week” (extended, thanks to a break for Thanksgiving) was the hardest yet, but Chad and I are still hanging on by the skin of our teeth.
If you want to catch up on previous 75 Day Medium posts, check them out here:
Here’s another week documenting our challenge progress.
Day 15
Vibes
We really gotta stop combining both workouts into one session from hell. (We probably won’t, but it’s worth saying anyway.) had and I have both had a really tough couple of days, but are feeling fueled by another 3 lbs lost as of this morning (I’m down 6 total).
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Random workout – abs, arms, treadmill, exactly 5 burpees
Dinner
We had some ground turkey, sweet potatoes, red peppers, spinach, and cilantro that we rolled into tacos. Thankful for chef Chad for this one.
Day 16
Vibes
Shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty. Those are the vibes. After folding/labeling/stamping a billion client newsletters (snail mail rush order), it was 9 p.m. and Chad and I each had both workouts to go. We compromised and decided that our 3.5 hours of labor could count as our first workout. So there’s that.
Workouts
- Mailing labor
- Treadmill
Dinner
Our 10:50 p.m. supper was a hodgepodge of leftovers, including turkey, sweet potatoes, veggies, and just a smidge of rice.
Day 17
Vibes
This day is kind of cheating. A quick half workout before leaving town and getting on the road to GJ. Something is better than nothing though, right?! (Right!!) Everything is hectic and busy and we are exhausted. Ready for a break.
Workouts
- Treadmill
Thanksgiving break!!!!
We went to Grand Junction to spend Thanksgiving with my family. And even with the grandest intentions (I packed my tennis shoes, book, and a straw for easy water-drinking), I ultimately decided to lean into rest. I didn’t work out once. I drank wine and cocktails. I ate the delicious food.
I have absolutely zero regrets.
Day 18
Vibes
Back to business! It’s Monday, 11/29, so we’ve done a bit of a time jump. Oops.
I didn’t weigh myself this morning, for the sake of my mental health. I’m feeling ready and anxious to resume progress, even though I’m tired and drained and absolutely not in the right mindset. But we’re powering through, regardless.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Treadmill
Dinner
Chad made ground turkey, asparagus, onion, and rice.
Day 19
Vibes
This week is killer, I’m craving junk food, and it never seems like there’s enough time or energy available to me. Double treadmill workouts for me, just to get ’em done.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Treadmill
Dinner
I made us some tempeh with an Asian marinade, served with rice, onion, and avocado.
Day 20
Vibes
I’ve really actually enjoyed having double treadmill workouts. It’s not as easy as I always think it’s going to be. Today’s went by fast, though, because I was busy creating a giant playlist on Spotify featuring everyone’s wrapped artists. Not sure how good it will be for working out, but I’m excited to try.
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Treadmill
Dinner
We had turkey, rice, and veggies.
Day 21
Vibes
Thursday! Which means one day closer to Friday! thank god. In a surprising twist of fate, both Chad and I finished both workouts before 7 p.m. And it seemed like a lot of productive exercise. Felt great!
Workouts
- Treadmill
- Hodgepodge – abs, arms, a few squats
Dinner
Chad prepared a lovely meal with pita bread, rice, turkey, fennel sausage, and veggies. We also saved up some calories for donut holes. Super yummy!
Three weeks down!
We are starting Week 4 on a Friday, which feels a bit like fake news. However, I’m proud of us for getting back into the thick of things, even when it felt impossible at times.
My calves have been SORE after so much time walking on the treadmill. It’s nothing complicated, but it always elevates my heartrate and gives me active minutes on Fitbit. I’ll take it. It seems like a good compromise when I lose my way with more structured programs.
Most of all, I’d proud of myself for sticking to this. As you have seen, I start things with full gusto and then my attention span/interest/commitment dwindles and I typically don’t see them through to the end. (I think I have ADHD and this is a driving symptom and factor.) (In 2022 I’m going to the doctor, so don’t worry.) (I will worry enough for all of us.)
Where was I?
Right: I’m happy that I’ve reached 21 days and still am present and engaged and ready for more. I’m proud of Chad, too. This shit isn’t easy but we really are hanging in there.
Also: not gonna weigh myself for a bit longer. 🙂 I have my suspicions and I don’t want to feel shitty when the momentum is moving forward. Onwards!
