Sometimes I think that this site is just one big sappy dedication to my husband. I’m sure there are plenty of readers out there—especially my Facebook friends who only see me share love-related links on my anniversary—who scroll past all the Married at 22 posts and think, “you’re in love, we get it.”
And what of it?
Spoiler alert: today’s post is following suit, true to that in-love theme. This post is one big brag, so buckle in or hit eject now.
I Must Gush
There are many reasons I adore Chad, but lately I’ve been in my feels for something brand new. This man, who is already the primary breadwinner of the household (sigh, engineering is more of a monetary endeavor than freelancing and PR combined, sadly), recently got a second job.
Life update alert. Now, on Saturdays and Mondays, Chad is working shifts at our local liquor store, manning the register, stocking the products, and looking cute as hell as he does it.
He’s bumped up from working 40 hours a week to 50 (on average), and I’m so proud of him I could cry. He was already my hard-working husband, and he’s just raised the stakes more for the two of us.
Why, Tho?
As you likely know, I’ve been side-gigging as a freelance writer since college, hoping to earn any extra cash. Lately, we’ve been saving toward a house. As our financial goals have deadlines looming, we’re looking for any opportunities to earn more income.
Thus, second jobs for all.
All in All
I just want to brag about Chad. He deserves it. I know second-jobs are not uncommon among the millennial crowd (damn this student debt crisis), but I couldn’t be more honored to have such a hard working, loving spouse who would do anything for his family.
I don’t know many engineers with master degrees who would be excited about going to their first job in retail after a long day at the office. That’s just the kind of guy Chad is, and I am so lucky to have him in my corner.
I love ya honey, and I’m so happy we’re in this together.
There is nothing wrong with send this kind of message – to him and to everyone you want to know about his efforts to help get you where you want to be as a couple..well done!
Thank you very much!
This is absolutely beautiful and you deserve to brag about your supportive, loving and hardworking husband all you want! Like you said, kudos to Chad for picking up a second job while already working 40 hours!!! I really hope he’s enjoying it with some fun colleagues. Wish you guys the best of luck in achieving your financial goals – judging by the dedication from you guys, I’m sure you’ll get there 🙂
You are so sweet! Thank you so much for reading and for your very kind words, I really appreciate it. 🙂

Omg this is so sweet! And you’re definitely allowed to brag – I love that you clearly appreciate each other so much X
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words. xx
I hope the extra hours help you reach your goals of saving for a house sooner. It’s admirable that a guy with that level of education is also willing to do some extra hours in retail, I’m sure a lot of people in his position would snub it. You have every right to brag!! x
