There was a time, albeit brief, when I thought that I could turn my blog into more of an influencing platform. I worked with a few companies here and there, applied for affiliate programs, and tried to figure out how to monetize my platform.
It didn’t really work out.
There’s a whole bunch of reasons: I found that affiliate programs were a little scammy (the buy-a-product-first, then earn $.001 on a sale never seemed profitable), my audience wasn’t really big enough or followed me for that kind of content, it was hard for me to appear genuine, the upkeep is insane, and I found out pretty quickly that my heart truly wasn’t in it.
So, that was that. I abandoned my dreams of monetizing my hobby and have been able to focus on blogging for myself. As you can imagine, it’s a lot more fun this way.
However, there are still times that I’m inspired by the successful influencers I continue to follow online; I have a handful of must-watch bloggers on Instagram and have racked up a few too many likes on that damn LTK app (a handy platform that can turn dangerous for online shoppers, quickly). I love seeing what people are interested in—what they’re shopping for, adding to their homes, or saving to wish lists.
So, in the spirit of curiosity and not in interests of making a cent via link clicks, here’s my version. These are the things I’m interested right now, from clothes to glassware. (Cheers, by the way, to Christmastime gift cards—one of the best gifts to receive! (The hill I’m happy to die on.))
My wish list items
Home stuff
Art books
I discovered some books on Amazon about iconic artists, talking about their lives and work. I am interested in a several different options: Klimt, Monet, and Vermeer are just a couple. I’d love to display these on our coffee table and in our guest bedroom.
Pantry drawers
Chad and I actually decided to go ahead and buy these shelves from Wayfair. We’re going to clean up and organize our pantry, which is currently an inaccessible mess. Hopefully, this radically changes our food storage issues!
Cane glasses
Some day I’ll order a couple of these cane-wrapped drinking glasses! When we have a couple of open shelves in our kitchen, I’ll pull the trigger on them. Until then, I’ll admire from a distance.
Throw pillow
I’d love a good lumbar pillow, like this neutral beauty from Target.

Wine glasses
We got a few of these beautiful wine glasses for Christmas and I hope to complete the set soon with champagne flutes and white wine glasses. Since these are a little pricey and not a total priority for just the two of us, it might take a while to totally upgrade.
Black plates
Last year Chad and I upgraded our dinnerware with some black pasta bowls. I’d love to eventually replace some of our original dining sets with a black collection as well.
Beer glasses
I’ve seen these unique glasses for forever, and I’m so interested in their many uses—iced coffee, smoothies, cocktails, and of course, beer. These would look great on display.
Utensil holder
Hopefully soon we will get a new utensil holder that better matches the color scheme of our kitchen (I’d prefer a white or black canister, rather than the orange fiesta-themed one we currently have). It’s been too hard to decide without seeing the size in person, though.
Bath, body, skin items
Eye cream
As someone who is pretty much permanently tired, this caffeine eye cream looks delightful.
Foot mask
This foot mask from Sephora looks great for impending and current dry weather conditions.
Eye makeup
I love the colors included on the Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay.
Lush stuff
In 2020, my best friends got me a gift card for my birthday to Lush. I just got around to ordering a few items. Here are some of my favorites:
Closet items

Boots
Okay! I’ll admit it! I did actually upgrade these before the holidays. I got some Doc Marten combat boots, which were literally a life saver during a snowy Christmas in Gunnison, CO. The best part (beside the edgy cool vibes) is the traction that has protected me from slipping several times already.
Puffy jacket
Puffers are all the rage. I’ve found that Old Navy has a cute and affordable version.
American Eagle
In this case, it’s probably more helpful to list all the items I’m interested in from a single retailer rather than try to break it up by item type. Here are a few things I’ve saved for later:
Amazon items
Same thing! Here are a few things I’ve been eyeing.
- Car cross bars for a ski rack
- Glass straws
- Soap dispensers
- Market basket
- Vinyl album
- Shacket
- Cookbook
- Duvet cover
And that’s about it! Is there anything you’ve been eyeing lately?
