Oooof. This one will be quick.
I’m not sure if it’s totally accurate to call our last visit to Sunlight a “ski day” when we only did ONE run. Yikes! First of all, we wanted to wait until the afternoon to go, because we thought it would be warm and the timing would be right with softer snow.
That was our first mistake.
Day eight: 3/21/21
We planned this outing around the weather at home. It was sunny, in the fifties, and beautiful. It truly felt like the first day of spring. Because of this, we wore our lightest ski layers and planned accordingly. As we drove closer and closer to Sunlight, however, it became apparent that things were different up there. It was snowy, cold, cloudy, and windy.
Honestly, we were just fools, lol.
I could not hang. I felt bad for Chad, who seemed like he was in a great mood and willing to ski as much as possible. I was not in this mindset—I asked if we could call it quits almost immediately after arriving. Like a very kind and caring husband, he totally understood and we left after only a single run.
On the slopes
We did one run, and then went home. I was cold and miserable and feeling quite sluggish, probably from all the weekend bad-food eating (celebrating my upcoming birthday) along with residual soreness from our first vaccine shot (!!!).
We opted for Ferret’s Hollow. It was fun, though randomly powdery with very low visibility. It would’ve been more fun with better layers, but it felt like we were shredding through it pretty easily.
Photos
As promised, I hope to have more photos and less words as I go. 🙂 These photos really capture the mood, LOL.

As much as I love to ski, I’m a “fair weather” skier: it can be snowing, but sleet, icy snow and icy cold conditions are not for me!
I know what you mean! I don’t necessarily want to do it if it’s miserable. Thank you for reading!
