As I previously noted, I’m a redhead with a mane of hair that I’m pretty attached to. It’s always been a significant part of my identity, and I always aim to keep these locks healthy and happy.
Part of this quest is finding products that work for me. Believe it or not, my conscious search was jump-started by Jonathan Van Ness when he called out some Queer Eye contestants for their sulfate-ridden shampoos.
A few weeks ago, I was on Instagram when I noticed a sponsored ad for Function of Beauty products. And just like that, I was influenced by an influencer.
So, no, this is not a paid review. This is my take on the popular Function of Beauty hair products, which include a totally customized shampoo and conditioner set.
The Ordering Process
What caught my eye about Function of Beauty (beyond the clearly appealing aesthetics), was the total customization. On the website, you fill out a questionnaire about your hair profile. They break it down by hair type, desired fragrance and color, and then goals for your hair.
Here’s my hair profile:
Hair Type
- wavy + coarse + dry
Hair Goals
- anti-frizz
deep condition
soothe scalp
lengthen
shine
Fragrance
- nude (p)each
Based on my answers, Function of Beauty sent me a shampoo and conditioner set that was made 100% for my hair’s needs.
The Goods
Based on appearance alone, I was over the moon about these items as soon as they were delivered. That color! Those graphics! That sweet set of stickers! Everything looked nice, especially my name on the bottle.
The Function of Beauty Product, Tho
While aesthetics are always nice, the real quality is obviously found in the product itself. And, honestly?
I love that, too.
The shampoo and conditioner leave my hair feeling soft and nourished. The smell is delightful, but the real kicker is how clean and treated my hair feels after every washing. Air-drying hasn’t been a problem, and the frizz on my head has seemed to subside, at least for now. I feel like a JVN-sponsored “YASSS honey!” is in order.
The products are a little pricey, but with discount codes and large-sized bottles, they are definitely worth it. There’s a leave-in conditioner option that I might try in the future, wallet depending.
Function of Beauty, feel free to see this and send me more. 😉
It is so important to take care of your hair, especially with quality products. It is great that you got some products tailored to your hair type. Sometimes, we need to pay more for better quality. I found myself paying $70 for a set last year but it has been lasting 11 months so far! Worth it. Thanks for sharing your experience on this!
