A few posts ago, I mentioned that one of my key healthy habits has been adding just a pinch of effort to my routine. This exists in my realm of fashion, especially as Chad and I continue to explore our new city.
It’s springtime here in Milwaukee, which has meant a lot of transitional in-between pieces. We’re finally starting to see some sunshine, so warmer clothes are just now entering into the chat.
When choosing clothes to wear, I’ve been keeping a few considerations. Here’s what I’ve been gravitating toward:
- Clothes that are both stylish and practical (there are still days for jackets, full-length pants, and layers)—I’ve got to adjust because of the weather.
- Simple pieces. I gravitate toward simple over anything else. I like being able to repeat, especially season after season.
- Comfort, as always, is key. Same with affordability.
Let’s see what’s on tap.
Spring outfit pieces
Tops

Floral crop top, Abercrombie
I love this top. It does ride up a little on me and expose a lot of stomach, but it’s so cute and the sleeves are extremely flattering.

Essential henley tank, Abercrombie
I’m a sucker for a simple staple! It’s cute, cropped, easy to layer or stand out, and it looks good with just about any bottom. I opted for a black color, though they all honestly would be fantastic.

Knit tube top and cardigan set, Abercrombie
Ahhhh! I was influenced by Bethanie at The Garcia Diaries, who looked amazing when wearing this two-piece set. I fell in love and have enjoyed the layering aspect of this combo. Super cute and very comfortable.

Essential scoop neck tank, Abercrombie
Another ‘essential’ that feels great as a go-to. I’d again scoop up every color if I could, but I love a good neutral and versatile brown in a short but sweet crop.

Ribbed square neck tank, Abercrombie
A new favorite of mine is this cream-colored crop. It’s comfy, cozy, and very chic. I gravitate toward this one by default.

Bottoms

Traveler shorts, Abercrombie
Okay, I lied about the lack of shorts thing. Or maybe it’s more wishful thinking? Either way, I have three pairs of these shorts. Lol. I have black and cream in size Medium, and then the cream pair in size large; I went for a bigger size for more comfort in the gym, so that I could feel like I was squatting and lunging with more coverage. My normal size works great for everything else, especially casual wear. I can’t wait for it to be warm enough to wear these out and about!

Curvy mom jeans, American Eagle
These have been my absolute go-to pair of jeans for the past two years. When we moved to MKE, I decided to order two more pairs as backup (you know when the thigh part of pants start to feel a little more thin?). No regrets. I got both the black and the blue and I love them both and wear them constantly.

Aerie denim short, Aerie
I love that these shorts come in S, M, and L sizes and are super easy to pull on or off. They’re very casual and lightweight; I got an oversized fit that I plan to wear over a swimsuit to trips to the beach in the future.

Pull-on short, Target
Though I haven’t always been a fan of active shorts that come with a built-in liner, I’ve realized that I just have to adjust—they are practically everywhere. These Target shorts aren’t so bad. I like the high-waisted feel and the material of the shorts themselves; they’re my go-to for running errands and going to the gym.

Bodysuits

Ribbed scoop neck bodysuit, Abercrombie
I felt as though my wardrobe could use a few different all-season staples, starting with a basic black wide-strap bodysuit. This is comfortable and goes with just about anything.

Ribbed open back bodysuit, Abercrombie
Similarly, I opted for this white bodysuit that goes great with warmer temps (whenever they will arrive). I love the open back and that it goes with most bottoms.

Dresses

I don’t really wear dresses often, but here are a few that I’ve been inching toward lately. There’s both sundresses and more formal options, depending on the occasion.
- Garden party wrap dress
- Oversized yellow floral dress
- Formal mint green floral dress (I wore it to a wedding!)
Shoes
Here are the shoes I’ve been wearing most lately! I’d be rocking sandals every day if I could.
Do you have any staple spring pieces?
