These are a few of my favorite things. Because I don’t believe in gatekeeping (and I love to share!), I’ve rounded up links for what I consider hair care faves— the essentials I rely on.
My hair has been a defining part of my identity for as long as I can remember. I practically walk around with a sign on my head that says, Hi, my name is Savannah and I’m a red head! When you add in those lucky genes for long hair, it’s even more of a thing. I wouldn’t recognize myself without my signature tresses. So, I do my best to take care of this red mop on my head.

Sav’s Faves: hair care
Here are my favorites that help to maintain and care for my hair.
Before I list products, I want to mention that the biggest game changer has been adding a water filter to our shower head! When you live in an old, historic home with older pipes, hard water can do some damage to your hair. A filter can solve that! It definitely did for me.
Shampoo and conditioner
I use the Pureology – Hydrate collection, at my hairstylist’s recommendation!
Every few weeks, I’ll also use the K18 Peptide Prep Clarifying Shampoo to give my hair an extra detox and remove any build up.
Styling products
I use an oil and a cream product in tandem on my damp hair after showering, and then the oil on my dry hair daily before bed.
- Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil
- Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother
- VERB Ghost Oil
- I’m just now starting this out, recommended by my stylist. She thinks I’ll appreciate needing less oil to have more impact.
Brush
I bought this brush set on Amazon in 2019 and I haven’t looked back!
Tools
Yup, I have a Dyson Airwrap. And though it takes a little getting used to, I love the dryer, the look of a blowout done well, and the knowledge that I’m not frying my hair.
I also rotate through styling with these other hair tools:
- Curling wand – .75 inch barrel from Brilliance New York brand
- Note: I bought this in wand in 2015 and it’s been my holy grail tool ever since. It’s my go-to, and I always reach for it first.
- Curling iron – 1.25 inch barrel
Sprays
- Dry shampoo: for regular use, Batiste; for a splurge, Living proof
- All-over styling/frizz control/leave-in/heat protectant: Pureology Color Fanatic Leave-In
- Heat protectant on dry hair: Kenra thermal spray
- Blow dry accelerator: Color WOW speed dry spray
- Hairspray: Kenra firm hold
- Texturizing spray: Drybar Triple Sec spray
- Note: it’s probably cheaper to get this one straight from the source, from a local Drybar salon
Accessories
- Scrunchies: Amazon, H&M
- Bobby pins
- Big! Claw clips
Hairstylist
- Milwaukee: Kelsey (@kelseyjeanhair) at Stasi Salon
- Chicago: Annie (@anniecuts_) at Spoke and Veal
- Colorado: Ashley (@ashley.m.stylist) at Clover and Pine Salon
Special occasion
Drybar in Milwaukee (they only do blowouts!)

Thank you so much!
I love using Olaplex on my hair too Savannah! I use Olaplex No.3 on my hair, I tried the No.6 before but it made my hair feel quite dry afterwards unfortunately! Your hair looks absolutely stunning, when my hair feels good, I feel good! x
