If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering through racks of gently worn designer jeans, handbags with barely a scuff, or teen pieces that still look fresh from the boutique—but at a fraction of the cost—Divine Consign is for you.
Divine Consign is a free-to-attend semi-annual community sale that takes place in Brookfield and Waukesha, Wisconsin in the fall and spring. It’s a major thrifting event, known as Wisconsin’s largest consignment event for women and teens.
Here’s what to know before you go!

About Divine Consign
Divine Consign got its start in 2009, founded by two Wisconsin women, Jessica Purtell and Jessi Wrench.
They combined their event-planning savvy and overflowing closets and thought: why not create a place where people could both clear out unused wardrobe pieces and give them a second life—while letting shoppers score amazing deals? What began modestly has grown into Wisconsin’s largest shopping event for women and teens, held several times a year in Brookfield and Waukesha.
I’ve been to several sales in the past few years, and love it more each time. I’ve found some incredible items (from Free People to Athleta, Aerie to Adidas) to help build my closet essentials. I look forward to the sale all year—always worth the drive for me!
What to expect

When you arrive, think “pop-up boutique meets treasure hunt.” Each person is given a large Ikea bag to fill, and rooms are laid out with wall-to-wall racks. These are carefully organized and clearly labeled by category, brands, and sizes.
There’s a little bit of everything, including tops, bottoms, sports fanwear, accessories, shoes, designer pieces, denim, dresses, athleisure, jackets—there’s something for nearly every style and budget. Many items are 70-90% off retail prices.
There are pre-sale / VIP days, half-off days (the last two days of the sale), fitting rooms, and a mix of payment options (cash, credit, Apple Pay, etc.).
Another big part: Divine Consign isn’t just for shoppers. Many local women participate as consignors, bringing in items to sell, earning 60-75% of their sale price (after a consignor fee and depending on volunteer participation) and following strict guidelines for condition, tagging, drop-off, and pickup.
Pre-sales: shopping early

One of the best-kept secrets about Divine Consign is the pre-sale. Before the general public enters, consignors, volunteers, and special ticket holders get early access to the racks. This means first dibs on the most coveted items—name-brand items, designer handbags, premium denim, and seasonal staples in the most popular sizes.
Pre-sales are typically scheduled the evening before the sale officially opens. They often run in waves—volunteers and consignors shop first, followed by teachers, healthcare workers, and military families, and then those who purchase a paid pre-sale ticket.
If you’re serious about scoring high-value finds or building a capsule wardrobe, a pre-sale pass is worth it. While prices don’t drop until the half-off days later in the week, the selection at pre-sale is unmatched. It’s a great strategy if you want to maximize value while still ensuring quality and style.
Tips and tricks
If you’ve never been to Divine Consign before, here are a few ways to make the most of the experience:
- A bag is provided for you
- Go early or go late—it gets busy!
- Have a list in mind
- Wear a blank canvas outfit, to easily try clothes on (leave your jacket and bulky items in the car)
- Check sizing carefully
Locations and schedule
Divine Consign operates in two main Wisconsin venues:
| Location | Venue | Usual Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Brookfield | Brookfield Conference Center | Fall sale: mid-September (this year: Sept. 16-20) |
| Waukesha | Waukesha County Expo Center | Late Fall: mid-November (this year: Nov. 18-22) |
Waukesha is the larger, more spacious site (about 20,000 square feet), offering more room between racks and better flow for shoppers.
Hours vary by day (usually 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to start, with special evening presales, and then half-off pricing on the final one or two days).
Selling: what you need to know

If you’re looking to clear out your closet and make some money, here’s how it works:
- Register in advance, select a check-in / drop-off time. Space fills fast.
- You’ll need to prep your items: clean, intact, recent (within last 3-5 years), in season. No heavy wear, stains, smoke smell, etc. Accessories, shoes, handbags accepted; some items are excluded.
- Tagging and pricing are handled through their system. There’s a limit on number of items per consignor (often around 60).
- If you volunteer (“Divine Helpers”) or help restock, you can increase your share of the final sales from 60% up to 75%.
- After the sale, you’ll receive payment via e-check about a week later. Unsold items can often be picked up or will be donated if you opted in.
