More often than not, nature inspires me. Enter: my winter walk poetry.
Lately, my cold daily walks have been a quiet time to drink in my surroundings and let my thoughts blend together. Sometimes, something poetic emerges on the other side.
Here are some winter walking-inspired haikus.

Lost in Translation
Crisp under my foot
Snow speaks in many languages
Most I can’t warm to
Mountain Mama
Mountains surround me
Do they miss their mothers, like
someday I’ll miss mine?
Stand-Off
My heart almost stopped,
the deer’s eyes didn’t blink. A
deep breath I could see

Race to Clarity
I quicken my pace,
here to clear my head. Who smells
roses anymore?
Cold Killer
If I were attacked,
no one would know. Just my prints
in this barren snow
Seasonal Darkness
Every moment counts
Tick! Darkness expands. My walk
is cloaked in shadows
