Winter 2024 has come (and probably not gone, at least in Milwaukee), and I made it through, not necessarily stronger or wiser, but not any less, either.
This season has been full of some good, some bad, some blah—notably mild in terms of weather and grey sky, to the benefit of my seasonal affective disorder. I’ve packed in busyness where it fit, and overall, I’m happy with how I’ve used the past couple of months.
Here’s my winter 2024 in photos; a visual representation of my seasonal adventures in Milwaukee. I made the most out of a hard time of year, and I feel hopeful going into the next (and maybe best!) chapter of the year.
December
December came and went so quickly, it’s almost hard to remember all that we accomplished. (It was a lot!) Chad and I hosted our first-annual Holiday Bar Crawl (a new tradition), I joined a wiffle ball league, holidays spent at home in Milwaukee, Chad and I went to Chicago for a leather making class, and we celebrated NYE with a group of friends. We stayed social to fight off the winter blues, and it did us a lot of good.
December, being the last month of the year, cannot help but make us think of what is to come.

January
January just doesn’t really feel like it was real. Lol. I’m still processing all that happened, like NYE, my tooth breaking (!!), Chad spending a week in Madison, our coldest snap yet, Chad’s company holiday party, friend dates, more wiffle ball (including the game I hit a grand slam!), a third-shift themed bar crawl, lots of barre classes at The Barre Code, and a couple brewery stops here and there.
No one ever regarded the first of January with indifference.

February
I’m not sure how to describe February other than using the word “unexpected.” Many things took me by surprise; first, when Chad said he wanted to get matching tattoos (and we did!), and later, when Chad’s cousin passed away and we found ourselves in Colorado for his funeral. I got to see my parents and my mountains, and I reminisced and grieved.
I’m happy to say that February was full of time spent with friends, from wiffle ball (our team won the championship!) to Galentine’s Day to a Buck’s game to tiki crawling to one of my favorite Super Bowl watch parties yet.
The February sunshine steeps your boughs and tints the buds and swells the leaves within.
