Happy New Year! As someone who generally wants to do all of the things, all of the time, a new year can become a little cumbersome. Enter: side quests.
These are the ultimate solution—a way for me to avoid over-committing and burn out, while also embracing the exciting and fresh energy of a new year.
The gist: created by my friend Amanda, side quests offer a low-pressure approach to ideas and adventures to try to incorporate over the next year, in lieu of rigid resolutions and lofty promises.
If I make some of them happen, great. If not, no worries. To me, they’re secondary plot lines, characterization, backstory details—all coming together to build a well-crafted story of a year.
This is my third time side quest’n, and I envision a 2025 packed with connection, joy, creativity, and plenty of sunshine.
Here they are: my casual, low-stakes, fun, low-pressure side quests 2025.

Onward
As you can see, there were some side quests accomplished, many not. There were quite a few that I realized maybe didn’t serve me, after all. That flexibility—the ability to evolve and change my mind and be a fluid human—is exactly what I love most about this idea.
So??? Fill me in! What are your side quests for 2025?
Established in 2018, Sunshine with Savannah is a catch-all blog with an emphasis on weekend travel, millennial-style marriage and fun, reflection-based musings, outdoor adventure, home design, and all things lifestyle.
Though the content is diverse and varied, the heart of this space stays true to a single, guiding principle: a simple pursuit to find sunshine, wherever I go.

Wishing you a year full of success with your list of “side quests”! A very creative idea!
Thank you so much! Happy new year to you!
Very Endivus-like! LOL
Lol, immediately love that one!
What does it mean to go to Chicago ‘casually? Asking for a friend
Great question! Lol – it’s only 1.5 hours away. So, a casual approach is like, “Hey, let’s go to Chicago today! Because we can!” rather than our typical planning, done months in advance.
This is such a fun list! I have read 25 books on my bucket list as well 🙂
Such a great goal! Thank you for reading 🙂
