Every few years, it’s time for me to upgrade my eyewear for a new pair of specs; I am totally reliant on vision aids, typically wearing contacts when I’m out and about and glasses at home and in-between. This week, it became time for me to order new glasses.
Not by choice, of course.
No, my hand was forced this time around by my dog Wally.
Normally, I have a primary pair of glasses and a back-up pair, which I use only for travel. I order my glasses from the online retailer EyeBuyDirect, which enables me to order a couple different pairs without breaking the bank.
After I got my eyes tested in December (with explicit orders to update my glasses with my updated, a-little-worse prescription), I had my usual ADHD-inspired response: I added it to my to-list and totally forgot about it, for several months.
Until, of course, the other night, when I was walking Wally to his crate. He stopped abruptly, short of the door in the hallway, and I hit my face on the doorframe. Well, I would’ve hit my face, if my glasses didn’t catch the entirety of the blow.
Within seconds I was on the floor, Velma style, looking for my Very Necessary To See glasses, in the dark. It took me a few comically drawn out moments to realize that they snapped. From there, the back-up pair became the primary and my to-do list was re-found.
Short story made a little longer than necessary: I ordered two new pairs of glasses this week.

One of my favorite parts of shopping online for glasses are all of the gorgeous styles at my disposal, which leads to my least favorite part (making a choice). However, I came up with a solid list of options to choose between.
Here’s a round up of glasses I loved and chose between for my new pair! Each is from the online retailer EyeBuyDirect.

Links
- Hubris frames, in clear copper (note: these are the same type as my broken primary pair, they were black before)
- Blocks frames, clear brown
- Alyssum frames, crystal brown
- Cezanne frames, clear brown
- St. Michel frames, golden
I ended up choosing the Hubris frames in clear copper as my primary pair (I got the thinner lens and the more expensive add-ons, like scratch-resistance and anti-glare) and the St. Michel in golden as my secondary, travel pair.
I love them! Moreso, I’m living my best Copper Cowgirl life, and feel affirmed in my choice. Thanks to Wally for forcing me to update (though next time, I pray for a more subtle hint)!

Thank you! Glasses have come a long way from the slim (yet still expensive) selection I had growing up.
