Liquid Lipo at Sweet Tox

Over the years, I’ve wanted to address the extra skin under my chin—an area that I’ve noticed refuses to budge. I recently turned to the Liquid Lipo treatment at Sweet Tox Medical Spa as a solution, and have been excited to share the process and my results.

Spoiler alert: it’s a game-changer.

Here’s my honest review of the Liquid Lipo treatment thus far, and what you can expect if you’re considering this treatment from Sweet Tox.

What’s Liquid Lipo?

Liquid Lipo is an injection of PCDC (a custom-made blend of Kybella that Sweet Tox orders from a pharmacy) designed to break down fat cells on a permanent basis.

Kybella is an injectable solution containing deoxycholic acid, which targets the area its injected into. Over about an eight week period post-treatment, your body flushes out those fat cells for good. Basically, it’s a non-surgical way to get rid of stubborn areas of fat—think chin, hips, stomach, armpits—permanently.

The Sweet Tox process

This was my fourth visit to Sweet Tox (previously, I’d only gotten lip filler), and it continued to impress and surpass my expectations.

Honestly, I love Sweet Tox for several reasons, but here are a few highlights:

• Treatment education. Before I ever booked a treatment, I was impressed with how well Sweet Tox explains its wide range of services, for free! Their Instagram page is packed full of helpful information that can help you learn more about cosmetic treatments, and they’re always willing to answer questions.
• Pricing transparency. Sweet Tox is one of the only places I’ve seen that lists out their pricing information for each service. This is the number one reason I chose them: I knew what to expect and what to save for.
• Elite communication. After you book your appointment, Sweet Tox goes above and beyond to connect and communicate with pre-appointment resources. For example, they have a fantastic portal to watch videos, sign forms, and to learn what to expect both during and after your treatment.
• Thematic. A little fun goes a long way! Sweet Tox leans all the way into their pink treats vibe, and I love knowing that they love a good theme just as much as me.

The Liquid Lipo appointment

When it came time for my Liquid Lipo appointment, it started with a complimentary consultation. This time, I opted to have my consultation immediately prior to the injection, though you can choose to do them on different days.

As always, the Sweet Tox team was incredibly professional, welcoming, and kind. My injector asked about my goals, examined my profile, and discussed the process. She walked me through my options, and explained that most people need anywhere between 2-4 vials for their under-chin area, and sometimes between 2-4 visits to see full results.

There was no pressure—just an honest conversation about what to expect. I decided to go with a happy medium: starting with a one-time 3-vial injection, just to see what happens.

The Liquid Lipo procedure

Prior to the injections, I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement. I really branched out with this treatment, so the nerves came from doing something different and new.

However, the process itself was much quicker than I expected! It involved:

1. Prep: Once I arrived, I took “before” photos from every angle, added to my file. My injector then cleaned and marked my chin area, and applied a numbing cream.
2. Injections: The actual injections took about 3 minutes, maybe less. It was painless. Compared to lip injections, this was easy!
3. Aftercare: They gave me detailed instructions for aftercare—mostly tips to manage swelling.

Post-appointment healing

Now, here’s the drama with Liquid Lipo: though the procedure is incredibly easy, the healing process is much more intense. Here’s how it went:

Days 1 – 2

The first 24-48 hours can be summed up in a single word: swelling.

The swell was intense. My under chin area puffed up several times its size, but Sweet Tox had warned me this was completely normal and a sign that the treatment was working. Consequently, it was more uncomfortable than painful, but it was a difficult process. To manage the swelling, I iced the area, slept with my head elevated, and wore a compressive chin mask. I took it easy and rested for the initial few days as my body recovered.

Days 3–7

The swelling started to go down, and any tenderness from the injection sites faded. By the end of the third day, I was feeling much more like myself, and by a week after, my chin was just about back to my baseline.

Honestly, I must note that if you are considering Liquid Lipo, the swelling is incredibly intense. It can be difficult to manage from a mental health angle. As someone with a pretty healthy approach to body neutrality (and often self-love for my body, in general), I had a more difficult time than I anticipated.

It’s just objectively difficult to see an insecurity amplified to such an intense degree. Thankfully, I was able to rest and recover in privacy and I had a lot of support from my loving husband, but I have to mention that the swelling can be emotionally difficult, even when you’re prepared for it.

Weeks 2–8

Over the next several weeks, my chin will continue to slim down as my body eliminates the destroyed fat cells. This is done through urine and sweat, so it’s important to stay hydrated and to move my body where possible. Between 8-10 weeks, I should be seeing my final results.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to for my chin’s results! And to drop that historic insecurity.

Note: the more vials you use, the more intense your swell will be. And likely, the more dramatic your results will be as well.
