Fall 2023 was in a league of its own for the Nelson-George household. Busy seems like an understatement, as we experienced countless late nights and work deadlines, followed by a booked calendar of events and guests and fun.
For all the stress we experienced, there was an equal amount of fun. Frantic, satisfying, joyful, worth-it moments with friends and family.
Here’s my fall 2023 in photos; a visual representation of my seasonal adventures in Milwaukee. It was packed full of memories, and I feel SO lucky to have shared them with loved ones (and lived to tell the tale).
September
September was hands-down the busiest month for us! We threw a Barbie-themed party, I had a million magazine article deadlines, we worked on house projects, I got into a fender-bender, we celebrated our 6-year wedding anniversary, I went to a Shrek rave (!!), and we hosted my parents for a week! (Which also involved a camping trip in Door Country and then a subsequent bought with Covid.)
How smartly September comes in, like a racing gig, all style, no confusion.

October
Fall finally seemed to settle over Milwaukee in October. We embraced it with a pickleball tournament, square dancing, a new tattoo, a visit to a pumpkin patch/fall festival grounds (it was nuts!), a subsequent pumpkin painting night, Denim Night with friends, and a sweet photoshoot with Chad. We stayed booked and busy from start to finish.
October is a symphony of permanence and change.

November
The theme of November was definitely “guests!” We kicked things off with a fantastic visit from our best friends Alexis and Jessica and their daughter Kai! Then, my brother Spencer came for a quick weekend immediately after. It was an incredible stretch of fun and movement. The rest of the month was a little slower-paced, but ended with the holidays at home and a fantastic Friendsgiving meal.
November at its best—with a sort of delightful menace in the air.

Established in 2018, Sunshine with Savannah is a catch-all blog with an emphasis on weekend travel, millennial-style marriage and fun, reflection-based musings, outdoor adventure, home design, and all things lifestyle.
Though the content is diverse and varied, the heart of this space stays true to a single, guiding principle: a simple pursuit to find sunshine, wherever I go.

Isn’t it great to put together a collection like this and realize what a great back half of the year you’ve had? Terrific!
It’s one of the best feelings! I just love having a visual diary to reflect with. Thanks for checking it out!
