In 2024, I read 24 books. This wasn’t a big reading year—after smashing last year’s goal, this number seemed almost disappointing in comparison—but I was thankful to dive into some wonderful reads regardless.
I love to read. And book goals are great to supplement that joy, but can be a hinderance when they don’t reflect reality and breed resentment: sometimes life doesn’t give the time and space to read. And that’s okay! Whether you “meet” the goal or not, any time spent reading is worth celebrating.
Here are the books I ended up reading.

Personal highlights
The biggest highlight for reading in 2024 came down to a single author, who really brought excitement and a spark back to my reading. Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing and Iron Flame were exactly what I needed, and I’m so in love with this fantasy land. I’ve already read Onyx Storm as one of my first books of 2025, and I feel lucky to be part of such a thrilling universe.
