Recently, I was doing a batch-read—it’s a thing I do where I catch up on all my favorite blogger posts from the past months or weeks or however long I put off reading (it’s a bad habit). I came across a series called “One Good Thing This Week” by Becky at Strikeouts + Sprinkles. I was instantly inspired.
Reflection is a good thing, though I haven’t been so good at it lately. I sometimes am so hyper-focused on what comes next that I skip a momentary pause to look back, or even around.
In the spirit of hope and a new year and the promise of a brighter 2021, here’s my own contribution to the conversation. Here’s my own “good things” post from the past week. (Thank you, Becky, for the inspiration.)
1. Feeling organized
After discarding a disastrously crossed-out 2020 planner, was getting a new 2021 just wishful thinking? Maybe. But I’m pleased to say that I’m using my new planner for very real, tangible organization.
It has been handy so far for tracking my productivity and streamlining my business, especially staying on top of client tasks. It’s been a Good Thing so far!
2. I went snowboarding
We officially used day 1 of our 10-day pass to Sunlight Mountain Resort! Yay!
This was a very obvious Good Thing. It was fun to be back on the slopes. The snow was incredible (heavy, fresh powder the entire time), and we had fun picking up where we left off. The soreness was nearly instant, but gave us motivation for how to better spend our time until our next trip to the mountain.
3. Daily walks and exercise
My main goal for the new year (and about a week prior) was to go for one walk and exercise for at least an hour, every day.
So far, so good.
Sometimes it’s cold and snowy outside, but I’ve managed to put on my boots and go anyway. Likewise, it’s sometimes difficult to want to continue moving my body, but I’ve pressed play each time, and have done my best. I’m feeling strong and happy with what I’ve accomplished thus far, and I’m ready to keep going.
Little wins, little happy moments—they tend to add up into very good things.
