I’m a creature of habit, especially when it comes to beauty.
It might come down to my status as a Low Maintenance Woman, my desire to be budget-friendly, or my comfort-driven routine, but I have a knack for buying the same products, over and over.
Usually, I go for drug-store buys, especially with my makeup and skin care. The only time I’ve really diverted from this was for my wedding. I followed my friend’s advice and bought some products from Urban Decay and Benefit for my big day, and was blown away by the results.

I vowed to never go back to the cheap knock-offs.
Sadly, that vow didn’t last very long. As soon as my All Nighter foundation ran out, I was back on my Target-makeup-aisle BS, just like before. However, my mom gifted me with some high-end Sephora makeup for Christmas, and I was inspired to do a little more exploration on my own.
Mixing it Up with Bare Minerals
Further inspired by My Face Story on Instagram, I went ahead and bought some acne-friendly makeup from the well-known brand Bare Minerals. Growing up, my mom always used their foundations and powders, so I knew that I would be getting high-quality products.

I got:
- Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Loose Powder Foundation – For Acne Prone Skin, in shade Light 2W
- Blemish Rescue Anti-Redness Mattifying Primer – For Acne-Prone Skin
- Blemish Rescue™ Spot Concealer – For Acne-Prone Skin, in shade Light 2W
- Seamless Buffing Brush with Antibacterial Charcoal
First Impressions
- I like the packaging (sleek, modern, cool tones) and product design.
- Even though I have oily skin, I usually prefer the coverage and application of liquid foundations. I’m trying something new with the powder, which makes me a little nervous.
- I’m glad I also have a brush that I know is meant for this powder, even if I’m not entirely sure where the activated charcoal comes into play.
- I am slightly concerned that I chose a color that is a little too dark for my skin.
- The good-for-my-skin factor is a huge bonus, and I like the fact that I don’t have to feel guilty about wearing this makeup.
- The shape of the concealer is interesting; it really is made specifically for small spot application, and not all-over concealer. I think I would prefer a stick rather than a crayon-style point, for more coverage.
After Applying
Pros:
- The primer is really silky and smooth, and seemed to mattify my skin really well.
- The powder is really easy to apply.
- I like that I can put the concealer right on any zits and not feel guilty about it.
- The brush makes for an easy application.
Cons:
- It’s a little difficult to apply the concealer in many places; it feels like more of a touch-up product than what I need.
- My skin feels a little orangey. I think this has to do with a bit of a color mix-match. To fix, I decided to also use some of my Urban Decay liquid foundation, which blended the colors together nicely.
- The coverage is a little lighter than I would prefer. There is a difference, but it seems slight. The post-wash redness of my face seems more enhanced than hidden, even with the concealer.
Would I Buy Again?
Primer: Yes.
Concealer: No.
Foundation: Yes, in a lighter shade.
Final Results
When mixed with some of my usual product, my skin tone is more even and true. Overall, I enjoy the feel of the products on my skin, and enjoy feeling nearly bare-faced. These won’t be used for a night out, but will be added into my everyday routine.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the concealer either. It really didn’t do what I wanted it to.
Yeah, it definitely isn’t what I’m looking for in terms of a concealer. Thanks for reading!
I really like Bare Minerals. I’ve had good results with them:) There are some great products available at the drugstore though too.
I love how high-quality and skin-friendly they are! I’m going to have to further explore their products. Thanks for reading! 🙂

It’s worth trying out to see if it works for your skin, even though it’s a bit of an investment. Thank you so much for reading and leaving a comment. 🙂
I have heard of Bare Minerals before and always meant to try it. I love wearing only powder on my face anyways, and this sounds like a great product Ü
I’d love to switch to more powders, since they seem to have a more mattifying effect. You should check out the brand and shop around! Thanks for reading and commenting. 🙂
You’re gorgeous without makeup! I don’t like the sound of that concealer applicator, quite strange! The idea of helping your skin really appeals to me though!

That’s so kind of you to say. I haven’t gone without makeup since acne tore up my face as a teenager, but I’m feeling more and more comfortable to go with less. Freckles used to seem like the enemy, but now they seem like a nice touch. Thank you so much for reading and commenting!
I have never tried this brand before but that’s only because it’s a light coverage brand! Can I just say you are so beauts without make up on and you looked stunning in you’re picture done up too!!
Love Nat xxx
I’m with ya! I typically prefer for my foundation to pack a punch. And ohhhhmygoodness that is so kind of you to say!! I wasn’t especially sure if I wanted to include those photos since it was such a light coverage. Thank you so much for reading and for your kind words! xx
Great review. I’m not sure I’ve tried any Bare Mineral stuff before… I’m definitely a what’s cheap kind of girl haha!
I’m with you! I think I might just be back to my drugstore finds for the time being. 🙂 Thanks for reading and commenting!

Really great review! I definitely want to try the foundation!!!!
Thank you! I hope that you’re able to! As long as the color matches, it’s a great product. 🙂
Great read, I don’t have many bare mineral products so this was really helpful!

Greetings! This is amazing!! Enjoyed reading every single bit and look forward to reading more! I was wondering if you could checkout my new piece on breaking down the ingredients in the Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation. This Piece is not only on that, but about how we should be more aware of what we’re putting on our bodies. This piece also focuses on clean, nontoxic products/ ingredients in products that don’t compromise safety. Looking forward to hear some constructive criticism and feedback to improve my writing style and the overall piece! – Kiran

I have been thinking about buying makeup from bareminerals for quite a while, and ended up bying their christmas calendar.
I hope that is as high quality as this seems to be 🙂
Definitely high quality! I would love to get something from them again, but match my skin tone a little better. Thank you so much for reading!
Anytime 😉
I think I’ll have The same problem with The calendar (that The colours might not match), but at least it is only mini versions I’ll get so there is a possibilily that I Can use it as something else, if not; at least it’s not so wasteful🤷♀️
So true!
