Every once in a while, I find myself pausing and appreciating my surroundings. Though I expect this to happen outdoors (this is Sunshine with Savannah, after all), more and more I’ve been finding quiet moments of happiness within my own home. I’m proud of the space that I’ve carefully curated.
A few months ago, I posted a blog post about some details around the house that I’d been loving. Now, I’m here to proudly add to the list. I’ve found some happiness in making thoughtful, often small, changes to my space that enhance how I feel while I’m in it.
Favorite View
Every day, I take a moment to appreciate the view from my bedroom door: out the hallway, to the front door. For some reason, this spot always gives me such a good feeling. Between the arched hallway, the wood trim, the sunlight burst, art on the walls, and our new light furnishing, there’s something crisp and character-filled about this spot.
Updated Gallery Wall
It’s heeeeere! When I wrote my original post on my gallery wall, I mentioned that I wanted to eventually swap out those frames for larger, matted ones. I finally did!
I absolutely love this upgrade and I’m so glad I went for it. These Target frames are sleek and gorgeous and make a true statement. I’m in love.
If I’m being honest, this gallery is one of my all-time favorite spots in our entire home. I think it captures some truly beautiful moments of our life together; this time, I was able to add some with Wally to the mix. This is the one spot in my home that is dedicated purely to us and I think each memory is so beautiful.
Hanging Planter
After we took our Christmas tree down, I swapped one faux greenery for another. This hanging planter spot, with faux ivy, is so eye catching and fills up the space nicely. I really like this as a pop of color.
My favorite time of day is when the sun is bright and shining and casts some light directly on the faux ivy. It feels very peaceful and serene.
Living Room Wall
Up until a few weeks ago, this southern-most wall in our living room was totally blank. I was saving it until inspiration struck. Fortunately for me, it did! I was able to repurpose an old canvas print (from TJ Maxx, I think) by spray painting it white. I love the texture and simplicity. On the small wall space next to it, I also hung two gorgeous mountain prints.
Office Wall and Corner
I’ve been saying this a lot, but ooooh, I’m in love with the latest addition to our home.
Brand-spankin-new, this extra large print of Van Gogh’s “A Starry Night on the Rhone” is insanely gorgeous. Beautiful. I’m so happy about this framed piece. I added some sconces around it, which I think add something special, though we opted not to add light bulbs to them.
Also new to this space: the two hanging shelves. I found these randomly in my garage, and hung them myself. I was happy to add them and take up some wall real estate in the office.
On top of the shelves, you might notice a textured, painted canvas, which I did myself! It adds a little character to this corner and allowed me to be a little creative. I love painting, even though I rarely know what I’m doing. Fun fact, my mom is an artist! I always love the idea of channeling my inner-mom to do things like this.
Office Corner
Another recently updated space is this corner of the office that was totally blank until we put two frames and a sconce above. (I did this, all by myself! Power tools and everything. Proud of this!) I also brought in a stool and a faux plant and viola, we have an elevated corner that I never want to leave. Some day, I’ll swap out this chair for a sleek leather number.
Director’s Stools
We decided to remove Wally’s giant dog cage from our living room area, moving it to a more functional spot, and this freed up some precious real estate. After looking for some affordable extra seating options, I stumbled upon some backless director’s chair-style stools from Target. They’re gorgeous and I think they pull the room together even more.
Guest Bedroom Set Up
Recently, I did a little refresh in the guest bedroom and am just really happy with its welcoming and bohemian vibes. The side table, bedding, and shelf above are some of my favorite elements.
