You guys, Ariana Grande is amazing. I’ve mentioned this in the past, but I’m a new fan of AG—I slept on her until this year. I was first captivated by the fact that she has a pet pig (named Piggy Smalls, no less), and then was hooked with her recent show-stopping albums, Sweetener and Thank U, Next.
It didn’t take long after finessing to “7 Rings” to realize that the best way to treat myself would be to go to the Ariana Grande concert with my best friends. And so, that’s exactly what we did: we gathered at the Pepsi Center in Denver as audience members for the Sweetener World Tour.
Pre-Concert
Going to Denver and seeing Alexis and Jessica is a treat, so the moments before the concert were just as important to me as the event itself. I was able to catch up with my best friends, try out a new brewery, and chat with several Lyft drivers.
We also stopped by Jess’ downtown Denver office, which gave me definite #urbanliving goals and filled me with pride for my buddy’s blooming career.
The Show
We made it to our seats at the exact right time—about half an hour after the official start time of the concert. With our way-too-expensive drinks in hand, we caught the last few songs of the opener’s set. Normani was an excellent performer, and sang some familiar songs to get us ready for AG’s appearance.
Our seats, though definitely considered nosebleeds, were near perfect. We were close to the stage and could easily see, and had an easy access point in and out. Next time, I’d just shift a little to the left for a more inclusive view.
When Ariana Grande made her appearance, it was hard not to get goosebumps, big fan or not. Her presence is larger than life, despite her five-foot-nothing frame. She danced and moved perfectly, though the real power, obviously, came with her voice.
Wow. The woman can sing.
AG performed for about two full hours, accompanied by brilliant dancers, an engaging set, and a ton of fan favorite songs. She started off the show with “God is a Woman,” and led concert-goers through a fantastic and singable set. I didn’t think I’d ever shout “you like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it!” to a crowd full of strangers, but I did.
Yass, Queen
Overall, I was impressed. And afterward, bummed that it was over. (You know, those post-concert blues?)

If you get the chance to see Ariana Grande in concert, I highly recommend doing so. It was an out of pocket choice for me, that quickly turned into one of the highlights of my summer.
And as for sunshine? She’s full of it.
That last line….. CHILLS
